TV Mounting Questions: Silver Spring

Below are the questions we actually get asked, grouped so you can jump to what you need. Every answer is the same one we would give you on the phone, with real numbers, not vague ranges. If your question is not here, just call or text (240) 743-3743 and we will answer it in about two minutes, with no pressure to book.

Pricing & Quotes

How much does TV mounting cost in Silver Spring?

Mounting starts at $99 for a TV under 40 inches and $125 for a 40 to 55 inch TV on drywall. Your price builds from the TV size base, plus add-ons for wall type (plaster +$40, brick +$85, stone +$115), above-fireplace placement, and mount style. Call (240) 743-3743 and you get the exact all-in number in about two minutes.

What are your prices by TV size?

Under 40 inches starts at $99. A 40 to 55 inch TV starts at $125. A 56 to 64 inch TV starts at $139. A 65 to 84 inch TV starts at $169. An 85 inch or larger TV starts at $205. Those are drywall base prices; wall type and add-ons build from there.

Is the quote you give on the phone the price I actually pay?

Yes. The price we quote before we start is the price you pay. We do not add surprise charges once we are in your Silver Spring home, and there are no fees that appear after the job is done. If something genuinely changes (you decide you want the wires hidden in-wall after all), we tell you the cost before we do it.

Do you charge extra for same-day service?

No. Same-day is priced exactly the same as a scheduled appointment. There is no rush fee, no weekend premium, and no evening surcharge.

How much extra is mounting on brick or stone?

Brick adds $85 and stone adds $115 to your base price, because both require a hammer drill, carbide masonry bits, and masonry-rated anchors. Plaster adds $40 and tile adds $60. Drywall has no wall surcharge.

How much does it cost to mount a TV above a fireplace in Silver Spring?

Above-fireplace mounting adds $100 for a TV up to 54 inches, $130 for 55 to 64 inches, and $155 for 65 inches and up, on top of your size base. If the fireplace is brick or stone, that wall add-on applies too. A MantleMount pull-down system is $135.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, always. Call or text (240) 743-3743 with your TV size, your wall type, and your Silver Spring address, and we give you an honest all-in price on the spot. No home visit needed just to get a number, and no obligation.

Do you charge a trip or service-call fee?

No. There is no trip charge and no minimum service fee to come out to Silver Spring. You pay for the work, not for us showing up.

Should I tip the installer?

Never expected. The quoted price is complete and our crew is paid properly. If you are happy with the work, an honest Google review helps us far more than a tip.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all standard payment methods including major cards, and payment is due when the job is complete and you have approved it. We do not ask for money up front.

Booking & Scheduling

Can you mount my TV today in Silver Spring?

Usually yes. Call or text (240) 743-3743 before 2 PM and in most cases we confirm same-day service on that call, seven days a week. There is no rush fee for same-day.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM, including weekends. Evening and weekend appointments are the same price as any other slot.

Do I get a real arrival time or a four-hour window?

You get a specific arrival window, not an all-day block. If we are ever more than 15 minutes late without calling you first, your service is discounted automatically. You do not have to ask.

How long does a TV mounting job take?

A standard drywall mount typically takes about an hour. Brick, stone, above-fireplace, or in-wall wire concealment jobs take longer, often two to three hours. We give you a realistic time estimate when you book so you can plan your day.

How far in advance should I book?

You do not need to book far ahead. Same-day is usually available if you call before 2 PM, and next-day is almost always open. That said, weekends and the days before big events (holidays, the Super Bowl) fill up faster, so a day or two of notice helps then.

Do you serve my neighborhood in Silver Spring?

We cover Silver Spring and the surrounding communities, including Downtown Silver Spring, Ripley District, Metro Center, Fenton Village, South Silver Spring, East Silver Spring, Woodside, Woodmoor, and more. If you do not see your exact neighborhood, call (240) 743-3743 and we will confirm your address in about 30 seconds.

What if I need to reschedule?

Just call or text (240) 743-3743. There is no rescheduling fee and no penalty. We would rather move your appointment than have you rush.

Do I need to be home for the installation?

Yes, someone 18 or older needs to be home to point out exactly where you want the TV and to approve the finished install before we leave. It usually only takes a minute of your time at the start and the end.

Walls, Studs & Mounting

Can you mount a TV without studs?

Yes, and it is one of the most common requests in Silver Spring, especially in apartments. We use heavy-duty toggle anchors such as SNAPTOGGLE, and for larger TVs engineered steel mounting plates, all rated well above your TV's actual weight. Every no-stud install is physically load-tested before we attach a single cable. If a previous installer told you it could not be mounted where you want it, call us before you accept that answer.

Is it safe to mount a heavy TV on drywall anchors alone?

With the right hardware, yes. The failures people hear about come from using cheap plastic plugs never rated for the load. We use anchors and plates rated well beyond your TV's weight, place them correctly, and stress-test the finished mount. For a very large TV in a difficult spot, we will tell you honestly if a different approach is needed.

Can you mount a TV on a brick wall?

Yes, we drill brick regularly in Silver Spring. We use a hammer drill and carbide masonry bits to set clean pilot holes in the solid brick face, then masonry anchors sized to your TV's weight. Done correctly, a brick mount is actually more secure than drywall, because brick does not flex or shift over time.

Should the anchors go into the brick or the mortar joints?

Into the solid brick face for a TV. Mortar is the softest, weakest part of the wall and can crumble under a real load, so we reserve it for very light items only. Anchoring a TV into mortar is one of the most common DIY mistakes we get called out to fix.

Will drilling crack my brick or stone?

Not when it is done right. Cracking comes from the wrong bit, no pilot hole, or overtightening. We drill clean pilot holes with a carbide bit and never overtighten. We also inspect first and avoid any crumbling or already-cracked material.

Can you mount a TV on a stone wall or stone fireplace?

Yes. Natural stone and stone veneer are among the hardest surfaces to mount on and are one of our specialties. We identify solid stone versus thin veneer, drill into solid material with masonry anchors, control the dust as we work, and load-test before we leave.

What about plaster walls in older Silver Spring homes?

Plaster is common in the area's older homes and needs a careful touch, because aggressive drilling cracks and crumbles it. We drill slowly with the correct bit, use plaster-rated anchors, and find the wood lath or stud behind it wherever possible. Plaster adds $40 to the base price.

My apartment has metal studs. Can you still mount my TV?

Yes. Metal studs are the norm in Silver Spring's apartment buildings and they need specialized anchors, because a standard wood-stud screw will not hold in them. We carry the correct hardware, keep holes minimal and patchable, and load-test the finished mount.

How high should I mount my TV?

The center of the screen should sit at roughly seated eye level, which is usually around 42 inches from the floor, but we measure from your actual couch rather than using a rule of thumb. Mounting too high is by far the most common mistake, and it is the one people regret because it causes neck strain every time they watch.

Is mounting a TV above a fireplace a bad idea?

It can be, if it is done thoughtlessly. The two real issues are heat and viewing angle. We measure the temperature at the actual mounting height first, and we set a downward tilt so you are not craning your neck. If the height is genuinely uncomfortable, we will recommend a MantleMount pull-down that brings the screen down to eye level when you watch.

Can you fix or redo a bad TV install someone else did?

Yes, this is one of the most common reasons people call us. We remove or correct the old mount, patch the damage, replace anchors that were never rated for the load, and remount the TV properly, all in one visit.

TVs, Mounts & Equipment

Do you provide the mount, or do I need to buy one?

Either way works. We carry quality mounts in every style (fixed, tilt, full-motion, corner) and can supply the right one for your TV and wall, or we are happy to install a mount you already bought. If the one you bought is not right for your wall or TV size, we will tell you before we start rather than force it.

What is the difference between a tilt and a full-motion mount?

A tilt mount angles the screen downward, which is what you want when the TV sits above eye level, such as over a fireplace. A full-motion mount extends, swivels, and tilts, so you can aim the TV at different seats or into an adjoining room. Choose tilt if you watch from one main spot; choose full-motion if you watch from more than one place or the TV is in a corner. Tilt adds $59, full-motion adds $89.

What size TV can you mount?

Any size, from small bedroom TVs under 40 inches up to 85 inch and larger screens. Larger TVs need heavier-duty anchoring and, in a no-stud situation, an engineered mounting plate, all of which we carry.

Do you install Samsung Frame TVs?

Yes, Frame and art-display TVs are a specialty. They are meant to look like hanging artwork, and that only works with a flush, cable-free install, so we mount them tight to the wall, perfectly level, with the wiring concealed.

Can you mount a TV in a corner?

Yes. Corner mounting uses an articulating mount anchored across the corner framing so the screen faces out into the room. It is common in bedrooms, kitchens, and tighter Silver Spring apartments. Corner mounting adds $95.

Do you install soundbars?

Yes. We mount your soundbar level and centered under or above the TV with the cabling managed so nothing dangles. It is $75 when you supply the soundbar mount and $129 when we supply it.

Can you connect my streaming devices, game console, and cable box?

Yes, that is included in a standard install. We connect and test your devices, make sure the inputs are working, and confirm the picture and sound before we leave. We can also do a full smart TV setup: Wi-Fi, app sign-ins, and remote configuration.

Do you take away my old TV or the packaging?

We haul away the packaging and cardboard from your new TV as part of the job. For an old TV, we can dismount it for $30 and, in most cases, help you move it out of the way, though we are not a disposal service.

Wires & Cable Concealment

How do you hide the TV wires?

Two ways. The premium option is in-wall concealment, where the cables run inside the wall using a code-compliant in-wall power solution, giving you a completely cord-free, floating-TV look. The simpler option is a slim surface channel that covers the cords on the wall surface. In-wall is $125; the external channel is $35.

Is running TV cables inside the wall safe and up to code?

Yes, when it is done correctly. Standard TV power cords are not rated to be run inside a wall, so we use a proper in-wall power relocation kit that creates a code-compliant outlet behind the TV. We never just stuff a power cord into the wall, which is both a code violation and a fire risk.

Can you hide wires in a brick or concrete wall?

Not inside the masonry itself, since you cannot safely route cables through solid brick or concrete. For those walls we use a slim, paintable surface channel that hides the cords cleanly along the wall. It looks intentional and finished, and it is the right solution for masonry.

I am renting. Can you hide my wires without damaging the wall?

Yes. For renters we recommend a slim surface-mounted channel, which conceals the cables with no wall opening and can be removed and patched easily when you move out. It protects your deposit and still gives you a clean finished look.

Apartments & Renters

Can I mount a TV in my apartment without losing my security deposit?

In most cases yes. We do renter-safe installs across Silver Spring's apartment communities: we keep holes minimal and patchable, use the correct anchors for metal-stud walls, and can use a surface channel instead of opening the wall for the wires. Most standard leases allow small, patchable holes, but check your lease first, and if in doubt, ask your landlord.

Do I need my landlord's permission to mount a TV?

It depends on your lease. Many leases allow normal picture and TV hanging with patchable holes, while some require written approval. We always recommend checking your lease language before we come out. We can tell you exactly what our install will involve so you can ask your landlord a specific question.

Will you patch the holes when I move out?

We focus on installation rather than move-out patching, but we keep the holes small and patchable by design so it is a simple job. If you are moving, we can dismount the TV for $30 and advise on the patching.

Do you work in Silver Spring apartment buildings with a concierge or loading dock rules?

Yes, we work in the area's apartment communities regularly and are used to building access, loading docks, and certificate-of-insurance requirements. Let us know your building's process when you book and we will handle it.

Guarantee, Insurance & After the Install

Are you insured?

Yes. SureGrip is fully insured on every Silver Spring job. If your building or landlord needs a certificate of insurance, let us know when you book and we will provide it.

What happens if my TV falls?

It should not, because we anchor for well above your TV's actual weight and load-test every mount before we leave. But we are fully insured, and every install carries our 90-day workmanship guarantee: if anything we mounted shifts, loosens, or fails because of our work, we come back and fix it at no charge.

What does the 90-day guarantee cover?

It covers our workmanship. If the mount we installed shifts, loosens, or fails due to how we installed it, we return and make it right at no cost to you. No forms, no runaround. It does not cover damage from someone later hanging on the TV or from unrelated wall problems.

What if you are late?

If we are ever more than 15 minutes late without calling you first, your service is discounted automatically. You do not have to ask for it or remind us.

Do you clean up afterward?

Always. We protect your floors, control the dust while drilling, haul away the packaging from your new TV, and leave the room cleaner than we found it. No drywall dust, no debris, no cable clutter.

Can I move the TV later if I change my mind?

Yes. We offer a dismount and remount service starting at $30 for the dismount, and we can relocate the TV to a different wall or room. If you are swapping in a new TV on the same bracket, that is usually quick and inexpensive.
